What’s the opinion around here on the 370Z? It’s One of my favorite two-seaters, second only to the Vette. And there’s one near me for cheap, what’s your thoughts on the car?

I quite like them, although the VQ V6 sounds like a bus.

I remember a road and track review where the brakes did not stand up to track use, to the point where I’d be Leary of even autocross. I believe Nissan upgraded them in response, but I’d stay away from early ones. Unless that issue is not relevant to you, of course.

I never owned a 370, but used to own a 350 convertible. They got fatter as the years went on. Way too heavy (around 3300 to 3600 pounds) for a car that small. By comparison, I think a Camaro or Mustang isn’t much heavier. Just my opinion though.

I adore how the VQ sounds, but at least around me these are the official car douchebros that got a promotion and traded in their tC. Plus IIRC it’s just a mildly updated 350z, which makes it quite old under the skin.

Don’t listen to him, VQ V6 is the best V6. I love that mechanical raspy noise they make.

One of my neighbors has a Nismo version of this, and I really like the looks of it. Never driven one, though my g37 sedan is somewhat close.

the ‘also ran’ in the 2 door coupe category.
its not a BAD car at all. but a little over weight, a little under underpowered, a little under equipped, and a little over priced. They are reliable and I do like the noise they make, so there is that.

A bit on the heavy side, but I like them.

The one I’m looking at is a 2015 Sport with the upgraded brakes.

And the Vette is only driven by retirees, and the Beetle is driven by college girls. All the cars I like come from bad driver demographics.

The muscle cars just don’t feel as fun though. I think it’s that the Z has a shorter wheelbase and still has smaller overhangs.

It’s old, loud (but not in a good way), too heavy, and it has a shitty viscous limited slip diff that quits working if you ever actually use the car. There is a dumb non-functional brace that eats all the trunk space and the interior is cramped and outdated.
I like them too, but really it is a hard car to recommend. You might fall in love with it, or you will curse it everyday. Get a C6 vette instead, then at least you’ll have a great sounding v8.

Oh I completely understand your argument, I just hate that the 370 is as bloated as it is. I’m sure it is still a fun car, as was mine, but I just don’t get how a car that size is that heavy. It makes it too bulky imo. I know there have been several articles on that subject and I do feel part of the reason behind their declining sales is because of that.

Hey, I’m not retired yet. Although to be honest, at 31 I’m younger than the average vette driver by a fair bit. One upside of vette being an old man’s car is cheap insurance.

I enjoy them, and think they’re a distinct improvement on the 350. They get a bad rap for being outdated, but they’re solid.

I had a 350, and a 370z nismo. Not many things out there feel quite like it, it dances around your waist, light ish and wide wheel-base. Get some basic breathing mods to get rid of the horrible stock sound of the VQ37 and you’re in business. I owned it in the midwest as my only car and did just fine even in bad winters. Do you have any questions in particular? I would be happy to answer any of them.

0 issues in my 3 years of ownership. Only thing I ever paid for was gas and oil changes.

I like them and I think they’ll age well despite having already aged poorly. I don’t think public opinion of them will get much worse. The S2K is a good looking car but it’s not as distinctive as the 350/370s, and some of those styling traits are really cool and concept-car-like. I’d consider getting one of there were a targa :( I don’t like roadsters so much but I don’t like having the roof on either.

My boyfriend has one. It’s completely reliable, gets 19 mpg, and rides/handles well now that we’ve ditched the stock Bridgestones for a mismatched set of Hankook/Continental. Make sure that you can control the torque steer (yes!) when pulling up to a red light on a bumpy road, and that you can tolerate the poorly-located nonadjustable steering wheel.
It’s awful at full speed. The transmission slips, the LSD opens up, the DSC won’t shut off, and the spoiler does nothing. Thanks to the 7-speed auto, it is also not great at low speed.
It’s hard to recommend, it combines most of the annoyance of a sports car with about half of the fun. But hey, orange seats and VQ.
